The prices for robot vacuums can run from around $200 to over $900 and as you go higher in price the features improve. We have tried to rate the vacuums on what they offer in regards to the price you pay. Although it should be that the more you pay the better standard of cleaning you should get that isn’t necessarily the case.
We’ve started at the lower priced vacuums and then looked at what is offered for more money and whether we think it’s worth the extra cost
We’ve looked at the cleaning ability, whether it has filters that can help with allergies, are the replacements available easily. We rate how the robot vacuum deals with different floor levels and how well it deals with carpet, tile and wood floors. We looked at how well it can cope with pet hair and whether it can deal with small particles as well as large.
In this area we have checked to see whether the robot vacuum can be scheduled, whether it has remote control or wi-fi. We check how well it copes with mapping the floors and handling obstacles. When you’re looking for a robot vacuum the first thing you usually check is the price and then the functions.
This Roomba 650 has a rotary brush, side brush and good suction, which makes it good for picking up pet hair. It is good on hard floors but can cope with carpets and mats too. It has sensors to stop it falling down stairs and to help it find obstacles. It uses a zig zag type of mapping system to clean which works itself around the whole floor.

This vacuum has smart laser technology which allows it to map the room and remember where objects are so that it gets quicker over time as it becomes more efficient at moving around the room. It has an extra large dust bin and ultra performance filters making it suitable for homes with pets and people with allergies.
This Neato Botvac D5 cleans methodically by moving around the edge of the room then moving back and forth till the job is done. If it runs down on battery it will return itself to the dock and re-charge then if it wasn’t finished cleaning it will go back to the spot it finished at and continue from there.
This is a great robot vacuum but it is more expensive, at $425 it puts itself out of range of some buyers which is why it is our no 2 choice.

The iRobot Roomba 980 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is the iRobot vacuum cleaner with all the latest software and power capabilities. It is also the most expensive robot vacuum that we have reviewed. This circular vacuum runs from an app on your phone, it has strong suction and a carpet boost function making it suitable for carpets and hard floors. It has improved mapping and visual localization which allows it to navigate around objects and remember where they are.
The Roomba 980 cleans in a more efficient pattern than the earlier models and can also run for up to 120 minutes so it can clean a whole floor before needing to re-charge. It also has dirt sensors on the base which makes it go over the affected area until it is clean. If you are looking for an up to date robot vacuum with a long run time and a capability for all floor types, then this iRobot Roomba 980 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is worth thinking about.

The iRobot Roomba 770 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is a good choice of robot vacuum that can deal with all floor types and is in the mid price range. It has the patented iRobot cleaning system and with hepa filters installed it is great for people with pets or who suffer with allergies.
This Roomba 770 also has a dirt detector sensor for dealing with really dirty areas and a large dirt collection bin so you can empty it less. This also has optical sensors making it easier to deal with objects it maps the room by going around the edge then back and forth in an efficient manner. If you’re not looking for the cheapest robot vacuum then this is a decent option to try.

The Neato Botvac D80 Robot Vacuum for Pets and Allergies is an earlier version of the Neato range and it is the cheapest one they offer, if price is a deciding factor for you. The Botvac D80 is the Neato D shape design with corner clever technology which allows it to get close to walls and into corners.
The LaserSmart mapping means it cleans in a methodical efficient way and if it runs down on charge it will turn off the vacuum while it goes back to the dock for re-charging then it returns to the place it stopped to resume cleaning.
This Neato D80 is a good machine for picking up pet hair and has a large dirt bin on the top of the unit which makes it easy to access for emptying and capable of holding a lot of dirt before you need to clean out. This robot vacuum has scheduling capability but no handset so it has to be done with the buttons on the vacuum.
#6 Choice – Eufy RoboVac 11, High Suction, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
The Eufy RoboVac 11, High Suction, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is a great choice if you’re looking for a robot vacuum under $250. This vacuum has a low profile of only 3.1 inches so it can fit well under your furniture. For a low cost unit it comes with a remote control and it able to be scheduled to clean when you’re out.
The Robovac 11 has different types of cleaning options which can be controlled from the handset, you can set it to go manually, you can send it around the edges of the room, spot clean, you can use the arrow keys to send it to a particular area to clean, or set it to max clean which is good for carpets.
The Eufy RoboVac 11 can run for up to 1.5 hours then it will return to the dock for re-charging. It doesn’t handle high pile carpets well but other than that it offers quite a few functions for a cheap robot vacuum.

The Samsung POWERbot R9000 Robot Vacuum is another reasonable priced unit with a price of just over $400. This POWERbot has a strong suction which optimal floor cleaning. The extra strong suction doesn’t make it a loud vacuum to have around though.
This robot vacuum has smart sensors and an on board camera which makes it clever at avoiding the furniture and efficient at cleaning the room. The dirt container has 2 sections which stores the dirt away from the filter keeping the suction good.
The Samsung R9000 is a D shaped vacuum with a large straight edge for the combo brush which is designed for less hair tangling. This vacuum has larger wheels so less problems getting stuck on different levels of flooring and obstacles on the floor.
The Samsung Powerbot comes with a remote control so you can manually set off the vacuum to clean in a specific place or it can run on automatic which will just clean the whole area it has access to. The only downside is this robot vacuum doesn’t have a scheduling function. If that’s not a problem for you it certainly has enough other features to keep you happy.

This robot vacuum has a dry mopping function which means it has a cleaning pad which can be attached underneath the robot it picks up any dust that isn’t vacuumed up. This can be removed when going over carpet as it can cause it to stick in places. This iLIFE V3s is only 3 inches tall so can easily fit under furniture and it comes with plenty of sensors to avoid the furniture.
This vacuum comes with a remote control which can schedule the cleaner or you can use it to clean manually, it is also quiet when it’s running. It has quite a large dust bin with a hepa filter so good for pets and if you have allergies you will benefit from frequent cleaning with this robot vacuum.
#9 Choice – bObsweep PetHair Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop
The bObsweep PetHair Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop is another cheaper option of robot vacuum but this also has a mop attachment. By mop we mean a wet cleaning cloth which pulls underneath the vacuum to wash the floor, so you can clean up pet hair and wipe up paw prints at the same time, it also has a UV light underneath to sanitise the floors too.
The bObsweep can clean carpets and hard floors but it can’t handle deep pile or dark carpets. The vacuum has a hepa filter making it good if you have pets or allergies. You can schedule cleaning using the buttons on the docking station, it will clean automatically until it runs out of charge then it will return to re-charge. It also has a quick clean function which lasts 30 minutes and a touch up function which lasts 15 minutes.
#10 Choice – iRobot Braava 380t Mopping Robot – Robotic Mop
The iRobot Braava 380t Mopping Robot – Robotic Mop is a floor washing robot but it isn’t a vacuum cleaner. It has a dry mopping function and a wet mopping function and each one moves in a different way. If you dry mop first when cleaning it will move in a straight line with long back and forth movements till it covers the whole floor. It maps by using the navigation cube which comes with the system like a GPS system.
The Braava 380t wet mopping function uses a separate attachment which hold a small reservoir of water which wicks down onto the mopping cloth to keep it damp as it moves around the floor, it also uses small back and forth movements as it moves arounds much like when you mop the floor yourself. This is great especially if you have pets that leave dirty paw marks on the floor, it cleans in a thorough way and customers feel it is a great buy, once you have it you can’t live without it. If you have a large floor space that needs cleaning regularly this is a good buy for you.
