If you’ve been looking around for the best robot vacuum and you thought that the main robot vacuum brand was iRobot Roomba then you might be surprised when reading Neato Robot Vacuum Reviews of the quality and history of Neato Robotics Brand.
Neato was one of the innovators in robotic vacuums and it was using room mapping before other brands. They were the first to use the D shape for their robots, they were first to announce wi-fi connection with an app and first to support Amazon Alexa.
They released their first robot vacuum XV-11 in 2010 and subsequently have improved on that one with every release including the most recent release in 2017 the Neato Botvac D7 Connected.
Neato Robot Vacuum Reviews
Neato Botvac D80 Robot Vacuum for Pets and Allergies
We’re going to start with the Neato Botvac D80 because this robot vacuum isn’t a wi-fi system and doesn’t have a remote. Don’t let that put you off though, as believe it or not, it still has laser room mapping.
The D80 comes with a charging dock and you can still schedule the cleaning on a daily basis but you have to use the buttons on the top to set it up( similar to the Roomba 650). Although it is an earlier version it will clean efficiently after mapping the room and if it runs out of charge before it’s finished it will return to the dock to recharge then go back to finish cleaning where it stopped previously.
This robotic vacuum has a large brush at it’s straight edge and you can use a blade or a combo brush with blade depending on your floor type. It also has a side spinning brush so that it can get into all nooks and crannies.
The Neato D80 can sense your furniture in the room and avoid it as well as steps and stairs so it won’t fall down them. It can handle all floor types and is effective at picking up pet hair. The filters are good and can pick up dust to 0.3 microns which is the size of most allergens. With a large bin to collect dust and debris you have a very good home help when it comes to vacuuming.
If you don’t want another remote and are not bothered with wifi then check this version out.
Neato Botvac D3 Wi-Fi Connected
The Neato Botvac D3 is a very affordable Neato version and at a price under $300. This version now uses wi-fi connection and is controlled via the Neato app.
You can start the vacuum by pressing a button on the top, by using the start button on the app or by setting a schedule using the app to have automatic cleaning on a daily basis or whenever you want it done. If you have a voice device you can also ask Neato to send your vacuum to clean.
The Botvac D3 can run for up to 60 minutes and is suitable for all floor types. It has laser mapping so it can map your room and work out the best cleaning path avoiding obstacles and cleaning quickly. There is a combo brush fitted which is great for picking up hair although this version doesn’t have the spinning side brush.
There is a large dust bin with a standard filter which will clean a lot of particles of dust but if you have someone in your home with allergies you may want to buy the ultra performance filters. This is a good brand vacuum at a cheaper price so well worth considering.
Neato Botvac D5 Connected Navigating Robot Vacuum
The Neato Botvac D5 is the next improvement in the Neato range. It’s standard now to have all the vacuums wi-fi connected which reflects in the fact most people have wi-fi at home and smart phones.
You also have the ability to use voice control to set this robot vacuum cleaning at any time as well as being able to use the app to set a cleaning schedule. Set your vacuum to start cleaning when you’re at work and use the app to track it’s progress. You can even locate your robot when you get home if it gets stuck somewhere and can’t return back to the dock.
The Botvac D5 can run for up to 90 minutes at a time and can work well on any type of floor surface. It has laser mapping, which cleans the room methodically rather than in a random way like some other types of robotic vacuum. It’s clever enough to return to where it left off if it runs out of charge and needs to return to the dock.
It has a combi brush for cleaning the floors with an ultra performance filter so perfect for homes where you have family that suffer from allergies and it can pick up pet hair easily too. If you have pets that shed, check this robot vacuum out.
Neato Botvac Connected Wi-Fi Enabled Robot Vacuum
The Neato Botvac Connected offers the next improvement for Neato robot vacuums, this version gives you 2 power modes ECO or Turbo. This means if you have carpets you can use the turbo mode to get a deeper clean, it can run for up to 90 minutes. If you have hardwood floors and don’t need max suction you can use the ECO mode which is quieter and uses less power so can run for longer, up to 120 minutes.
You still get wi-fi connection, the Neato app and voice capability, great if you’re building up a smart-home. Schedule your cleaning on a daily basis if you feel you need it and it will start on it’s own laser mapping the room cleaning in a linear fashion and finishing by going round the edges to give you a complete clean.
The Neato Botvac Connected has 2 cleaning brushes so you can choose the best for your floor type and it has the ultra performance filter too. You also get boundary markers which are magnetic strips to use if you have to shut off part of a room without a door or protect a specific piece of furniture, it’s stops the vacuum crossing over it.
If you like the ECO and Turbo feature then check this vacuum out.
Neato Robotics D7 Connected Wi-Fi Enabled Robot Vacuum
The Neato D7 Connected is the latest edition to the Connected range and of course it also offers more improvements for the customer.
There are 2 main changes to the D7, firstly it can run for up to 120 minutes so that is the longest run time on a Neato robot vacuum. You might want this if you have a larger house and it helps with carpets as they drain the battery quicker than hard floors.
The second improvement is in the app itself. Like the other Neato vacs you get wi-fi connection (including 5 GHZ connection), voice control and scheduling within the app. What they have come up with now is that you don’t have to use magnetic strips to stop the vacuum going places you don’t want it to, you can use the laser drawn map on the app and using your finger to draw lines where you don’t want the robot to cross. These virtual no go lines are simple to use, can be added quickly and changed at any time.
In terms of cleaning you have the 2 power modes, ECO and Turbo. You get a spiral combo brush for good debris, dirt and hair collection with the ultra performance filter to get the cleanest air after vacuuming. If you like the latest gadgets, you will love the D7.
With these Neato Robot Vacuum Reviews you can see that there are options to suit every budget and they all offer laser mapping and can return to finish cleaning if it can’t be completed on one charge. That’s not offered with other brands. Why not check them all out, they’re available on Amazon with a 30 day return so if you’re not super satisfied, you’re covered.
