Housmile Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Review
This robot vacuum is a circular shape and it has side brushes. It is small at just under 9 inches in diameter with a low profile of 2.4 inches allowing it to fit under furniture. This is a budget robot vacuum so you won’t see any bells and whistles but it does manage to clean the floor using the 2 spinning side brushes and suction. The side brushes work to move the dirt into the path of the suction so it can be removed. There is no remote control so you set it to clean a bit like the Roomba 650 except that this robot vac can’t be programmed, it’s totally manual.
2 cleaning modes
As there is no automatic timing you have to start your Housmile robotic vacuum by pressing the button. There are 2 modes that you can use, small room and large room mode. To use the small room mode you press the button once and let it run. The small room mode sends the robot around the edges and it uses a square mode at the corners moving when it bumps into objects and it runs for 30 minutes. Its worth closing the door of the room to keep it working in one area or it will just move into other rooms and you won’t get as much of a clean. The large room mode has a similar cleaning motion with a spiral cleaning motion used in the centre of the room. This cleaning mode lasts for 60 minutes.
The main sensor on the Housmile Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is the bump sensor on the front. As the bumper touches an object or the wall it will change direction. It doesn’t bump too hard and has a rubber edge on it so it doesn’t do any damage. There is also a drop sensor on the bottom of the vacuum so that if it reaches an edge it will know not to go any further and it will turn around.
The battery in the Housmile is a Advanced Li-ion battery which gives an excellent runtime of around 90 minutes. As this robotic vacuum doesn’t come with a docking station like a lot of robot vacuums you have to remove the battery from the base of the unit and attach it to the charger unit which plugs into a household electrical outlet. It takes about 3.5 hours to re-charge the battery. Although you don’t have the luxury of the vacuum returning itself for recharge you also don’t have the problem of finding a clear area where you can house the docking unit and vacuum either.
There are 2 filters included with the Housemile vacuum one for the unit and one spare. It’s easy to access the dustbin and the filter by removing the top cover, which clips into place. Under the cover is the small dustbin which can be easily removed so that you can empty it. It only has a flexible plastic cover to stop the dust going back into the room so it’s worth emptying it often. The filter just needs the dust and hair and dust knocked off it and replace it back in it’s place inside the dustbin.
This little robot vacuum is very quiet in its action. You can quite happily get on with other things and not be too bothered by the noise it makes.
This is a great little vacuum cleaner which works better on hardwood and vinyl flooring than on carpet but it does work on carpet. It has quite a strong suction but it would probably need more agitation underneath to get to the dirt inside carpets. You won’t get any extras like the option to set a cleaning schedule or automatic cleaning without your intervention but it only takes the press off a button to set it going and it has less functions to go wrong.
There are a lot of positive reviews on this robot vacuum, most people find it does a satisfactory cleaning job for the price of it. They like the fact that it is really easy to setup, it works well on hard floors , runs for a long time and is very quiet.
The negatives are there are not extras included, it’s a very basic vacuum. Some people had some problems with the front wheel which stopped it working correctly. Others have had problems with it breaking after a short time of using.
For a cheap robot vacuum this Housmile Robotic Vacuum Cleaner does do the job of cleaning your floor on it’s own once you switch it on. It has good suction and can clean edges with the brushes attached and run for a reasonable length of time which are features that we want in a vacuum. Don’t expect it to clean carpets at any deep level but it will keep your floor looking clean with just the touch of a button.
