If you’re looking for a cheap robot vacuum that offers good cleaning ability then check out the Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim) Robot Vacuum Cleaner. This is a great choice if you want to own a robot vacuum but have a tight budget.
The Eufy is under $200 which makes it a more affordable robot vacuum, so let’s have a look at the features it can offer at this price and whether it’s worth buying or should you save up for a more expensive robot vacuum.
The Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S is the newer version of the original eufy robovac 11 and what it has improved is in the height of the vacuum as this new slimmer version is only 2.9 inches high compared to the Roomba 650 which is 3.6 inches high. That might make all of the difference between a robot vacuum fitting under your furniture or not.
This is circular in design and measures 12.8 inches in diameter with an anti-scratch, tempered glass top which gives it a shiny, sleek look. It can be controlled either by the start button on the top of the robot vacuum or by using the remote control that comes with it. This model has a basic control system and doesn’t come with wifi or smart capability.
The 11s can work on all floor types but won’t cope with thicker carpets. It’s pretty much a standard size when comparing to other circular types although quite slim.
How it Cleans
The RoboVac 11s has a rotary brush underneath the vacuum and 2 spinning side brushes which all work together to brush the dirt into the suction channel. There is also a suction choice depending on your floor surface and how dirty you feel it is. There is the standard suction mode for everyday cleaning or the max mode which is great if you have carpets. The new boost IQ mode automatically decides, based on the flooring, if it needs to boost the suction or not.
You have a few cleaning modes that you can use, automatic which is the main default cleaning mode, spot clean to use if you have a spillage. There is also edge clean if you feel it hasn’t covered the edges of the room well enough, single room clean where it will clean one room intensively for around 30 minutes. Using the directional buttons on the remote control allows you move the vacuum manually to clean a specific area.
The rotary brush underneath helps to collect pet hair and other dirt it might find on the floor with the boost function giving extra help where it’s needed.
This isn’t a particularly noisy robot vacuum and with a decibel level of only 55 it won’t interfere too much with your enjoyment if you are watching TV or having a conversation.
Eufy 11s Features
The Eufy 11s doesn’t have any kind of room mapping sensors so it cleans in a random pattern, moving around all the floorspace that it can access till it runs out of charge, then it will return to the docking station.
Because it hasn’t got the sensors that can map a room it can’t track where it has cleaned. This means it can’t return to where it finishes cleaning after it has recharged.
It does have sensors included which help it to avoid obstacles, detect dirt and detect drops like stairs and ledges. You won’t have to worry if you use it upstairs that it will fall down them and it won’t batter your furniture legs as it can detect where they are and clean around them.
The battery life on this robot vacuum is very good and it can clean for up to 100 minutes depending on the surfaces it is cleaning.
There is a removable dust bin in the side of the vacuum which you just need to empty on a daily basis or after a clean. It’s 0.6L in size which is a large enough size compared to other robots so that you won’t have to empty it multiple times during cleaning. It also houses the filters which stop the dust from blowing back into the air as it moves over the floor.
You have the ability to set a scheduled cleaning time so that you can clean without having to remember, it will just start cleaning by itself at the set time. You will have to make sure that the floor has no items on it that can stop your cleaner from doing it’s job.
You will receive a docking station with your robot vacuum which needs to be placed against a wall with a bit of space around it so that the vacuum has space to manoeuvre its way onto when it returns for a recharge.
You get extra side brushes in the box and all the filters you need but spares are available to buy online.
The basic maintenance for this like most other robot vacuums is to regularly empty the dust bin which is located under the lid. You will also need to clean the filter by tapping it on the side of your rubbish bin.
Occasionally you will need to check the brushes underneath to remove any tangled hair and wipe the sensors, luckily this doesn’t take long to do.
